Hybrid Nurse Aide I Training Course

The Nursing Assistant I course is a state-approved course that teaches basic nursing skills to students. Such skills are required to provide personal care for patients, residents, the elderly, and others requiring medical assistance in a healthcare setting. Emphasis is placed on patient safety and infection control, the aging process, communication, legal and ethical issues, patient rights, personal care, vital signs, elimination, nutrition, emergencies, rehabilitation, proper body mechanics, and mental health. This course includes a clinical component.

Students are prepared to take the North Carolina Nurse Aide Competency Examination, a requirement for listing on the NC Nurse Aide I Registry. Upon successful completion of the exam, the candidate will be considered a Certified Nursing Assistant I (CNA I).

Occupation Description

Nursing Assistant Level 1 (NA1) plays an important role in patient care. As the front-line care provider, NA spends more time in direct contact with the patient than any other member of the healthcare team. Under the supervision of registered and practical nurses, the Nursing Assistant provides basic nursing skills and personal care activities such as measuring vital signs, assisting patients with activities of daily living (feeding, bathing, moving, or grooming patients), and maintaining a safe environment for the resident/patient.

​Hybrid Phlebotomy

Tuition: $1128

​This hybrid class consists of both online lectures and hands-on in-person lab instruction. It is 6 weeks in length. The online portion and lab run simultaneously. This helps you not only gain the intellectual knowledge needed, but the real-world skills that will allow you to thrive. You will be completing online lessons each week while also attending lab two days a week to practice blood draws and get familiar with equipment used as a Phlebotomist. The online portion consists of lectures, supplemental videos, assignments, and quizzes to help prepare for the lab and an eventual career. The laboratory portion will be spent introducing you to the equipment you will be working with, the procedures to be done, and the real-life experience of drawing blood on each other. This will help you prepare for the job experience needed in various medical settings and for the national exam once you are eligible to take it after the class ends.

Medication Aide

This NC Board of Nursing-approved course is designed to meet the training requirements to become qualified as a Medication Aide. It will cover the six rights of medication administration for non-licensed personnel. Topics will include medication administration via oral, topical, and instillation routes, medical asepsis, hand hygiene, terminology, and legal implications. Upon completion, students should be prepared to take the competency exam and demonstrate the skills necessary to qualify for listing on the North Carolina Medication Aide Registry. 24 Hours (No Clinical)

Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification for Healthcare Providers

The BLS course trains participants to promptly recognize several life-threatening emergencies, give high-quality chest compressions, deliver appropriate ventilation and provide early use of an AED. Reflects science and education from the American Heart Association Guidelines Update for CPR and Emergency Cardiovascular Care (ECC).

​The BLS Course is designed for healthcare professionals and other personnel who need to know how to perform CPR and other basic cardiovascular life support skills in a wide variety of in-facility and prehospital settings.

Basic Life Support Instructor Certification

This American Heart Association credentialed course covers instructor proficiency in teaching, organizing, coordinating, and conducting Healthcare Provider and Heartsaver Courses. This course will cover the 2020 AHA/ECC Guidelines.

Instructor Manual, Training Site Acceptance, Monitoring and Class Assistance, Equipment Rental

Registration Fee: $776.00

After being accepted by an authorized AHA TC, complete an Instructor Candidate Application for the TC before enrolling in an AHA Instructor Course.

Have current AHA provider status in the discipline for that Instructor Course, and be proficient in all the skills of that discipline. Disciplines include ACLS, BLS, PALS, PEARS, and Heartsaver.

Successfully complete the Instructor Essentials Course for the discipline for which you are becoming an Instructor, including both the online portion and the classroom/hands-on session.

Successfully monitor teaching within 6 months of completing the hands-on session of their Instructor Essentials Course (TC Coordinators may require additional monitoring if needed.)

Heartsavers CPR/AED/First Aid

This American Heart Association credentialed course covers first aid basics -

  • Medical, Injury, and Environmental Emergencies,
  • CPR, AED, and Choking Relief for Adults, Children, and Infants.

Learn the basic steps of CPR and the use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator) and FBAO (Foreign Body Airway Obstruction) for victims of all ages. Receive instruction to recognize emergency situations involving heart attack, choking, respiratory arrest, and cardiac arrest in adults, children, and infant victims. Instruction will be provided to manage life-threatening environmental emergencies, injuries, and medical emergencies such as, seizures, allergies, diabetes, heat stroke, and snake bites.

​Upon successful completion, you will receive an AHA Heartsaver CPR/First Aid certification eCard which is valid for two years.

Heartsavers CPR/AED

If you are not a healthcare provider, this is the AHA certification course for you!

This course follows the current American Heart Association guidelines and is designed to teach you the basic steps of CPR, the use of an AED (Automated External Defibrillator), and FBAO (Foreign Body Airway Obstruction) for victims of all ages. Certified Foot Care Specialist

Requirements

  • Currently Hold an RN, DNP, NP, LPN, OT, PT, DPT, MD, or DO

This program is a complete training program for nurses and other healthcare professionals who are preparing to add foot care to their practices. The participants received 25 hours of lecture and 20 hands-on proctored foot care, which meets the WOCN & AFCNA didactic prerequisites for their Foot and Nail Care Certification exams. Successful completion. This program presents approaches to the assessment, diagnosis, and treatment of selected foot problems in older adults and provides opportunities to observe and select diagnostic and treatment procedures. Topics include assessment and diagnostic testing of lower extremity neurological and vascular disease; Bio-mechanical physical assessment of the foot; assessment and treatment of pedal skin conditions; and toenail assessment and care.
Successful completion of this program meets the didactic eligibility requirement for the Foot and Nail Care Certification awarded by the WOCN & AFCNA.org.
